AP Haj Committee Reviews Preparations for Haj-2027 Pilgrimage
Andhra Pradesh State Haj Committee Chairman Haji Sheikh Hasan Basha held discussions with senior officials of the Haj Committee of India in Mumbai to review preparations for the Haj-2027 pilgrimage, focusing on improving facilities, strengthening coordination and ensuring better services for pilgrims from the state. He met Shahnawaz C. (IAS), Chief Executive Officer of the Haj Committee of India, at the organisation’s Mumbai office to discuss various aspects of the upcoming pilgrimage.
The meeting focused on arrangements required to facilitate a smooth and well-organised pilgrimage. Key areas of discussion included providing essential amenities, streamlining travel-related arrangements, improving service delivery and ensuring timely assistance to pilgrims. The discussions also highlighted the importance of coordination between the state Haj Committee and the Haj Committee of India to address pilgrims’ requirements effectively.
The scale of the annual pilgrimage underlines the importance of advance planning. Around 2,000 pilgrims from Andhra Pradesh undertook Haj in 2026, while India’s national Haj quota for that year stood at 1,75,025 pilgrims. For Haj-2027, the Union government has announced the policy and said it would make efforts to secure an increase in India’s quota. The final number of pilgrims from Andhra Pradesh for the upcoming season will depend on the applicable allocations and selection process.
Hasan Basha said pilgrim welfare would remain the top priority in preparations for Haj-2027. He stressed the need for coordinated efforts among the concerned departments and agencies to ensure that pilgrims receive the necessary support and facilities. Effective planning and timely coordination, he said, would be crucial to managing the various requirements associated with the pilgrimage.
He further stated that the Andhra Pradesh government was according priority to the welfare of Haj pilgrims in line with the directions of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan and Minority Welfare Minister NMD Farooq. He added that the government was committed to improving services and providing better facilities to pilgrims undertaking the sacred journey.
The discussions in Mumbai form part of efforts to strengthen institutional coordination and improve arrangements for Andhra Pradesh pilgrims travelling for Haj in 2027, with an emphasis on efficient planning, better services and effective cooperation among the authorities concerned.
