In a major relief to job aspirants, Andhra Pradesh Education and IT Minister Nara Lokesh announced that the government is preparing to release a comprehensive Mega Job Calendar by the Ugadi festival to streamline recruitment and provide clarity on government vacancies. Speaking in the Assembly during Question Hour, he said the calendar will cover multiple departments, with a strong focus on teacher recruitment , while ensuring transparency and legal compliance. Officials are resolving technical issues such as reservations , zonal re-notification , and roster systems to avoid delays. He noted that around 16,000 teachers were recruited last year and additional posts will be included in the upcoming notification to strengthen the education system and meet the expectations of unemployed youth.

Highlighting improvements in school education, the minister said Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs) are delivering some of the best academic outcomes in the country, with rising admissions and improved results. He revealed that discussions were held with Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan regarding salary hikes for KGBV staff. The scheme operates under a 60:40 Centre–State funding model, and a final decision will be taken after approval from the Project Approval Board. Nearly 11,000 staff work under the system, and Andhra Pradesh already provides comparatively better pay while pursuing further improvements to staff welfare.

Lokesh emphasized that employment generation must go beyond recruitment by aligning education with industry needs. With emerging industrial clusters such as Data City , pharma , and steel in North Andhra, technical institutions will provide industry-relevant skill training to improve employability and support regional economic growth.

Responding to a query on institutional development, he said infrastructure at Vizianagaram Polytechnic will be upgraded, with construction costs rising to about ₹10 crore and an additional ₹1.10 crore allocated for repairs. He also assured that stalled works would be revived and the Aviation Edu-City project strengthened to create specialized education and employment opportunities. The proposed job calendar and education reforms together reflect the government’s youth-focused approach to improving livelihoods, strengthening public education, and supporting long-term economic development.
