AP Govt Rallies To Rescue Annamayya Woman Stranded in Oman
An incident involving a woman from Vayalapadu in Annamayya district, who was reportedly confined in Oman , has triggered widespread concern across Andhra Pradesh. The state government moved quickly to facilitate her safe return.
Doodhekula Shahnaz had travelled to Muscat in November last year seeking employment . However, dissatisfied with the job assigned to her, she decided to return home. Her family alleged that local agents stopped her from leaving and demanded ₹2 lakh, citing incurred expenses. They also claimed that her phone was taken away, cutting off her communication.
Her husband, Abubakar, subsequently sought help from the APNRT Society, which responded without delay. The organisation coordinated with the Andhra Pradesh government and contacted the Indian Embassy in Oman. With assistance from local authorities , efforts were made to negotiate with the agents and resolve the situation.
Following these interventions, the agents agreed to send Shahnaz back to India without any additional charges. Officials stated that she is expected to reach Andhra Pradesh on May 7.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, reacting to the episode, reaffirmed the government's commitment to the safety of migrant workers. He assured continued support for residents facing hardships overseas and appreciated the APNRT Society for its swift action in addressing the issue.
