AP Govt Promises Faster Vehicle Registration Within a Day

The Andhra Pradesh government is set to roll out a new system to speed up vehicle registration services and improve transparency . Transport Minister Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy said the state will ensure permanent registration of new vehicles is completed within 24 hours.

At present, delays and technical issues have led to a backlog of pending applications across the state. To address this, the transport department is introducing a streamlined digital process as per the directions of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.

Under the new system, once a vehicle receives temporary registration from the dealer, the application will be automatically processed for approval. If officials fail to act within 24 hours, the system will grant automatic clearance through built-in software mechanisms.

The reform will operate even on holidays to ensure uninterrupted services. However, the 24-hour approval timeline will apply only to standard registration numbers, while fancy numbers will continue under existing procedures.

The initiative has already received government approval and will be implemented statewide soon, aiming to reduce delays, minimize office visits , and strengthen digital governance .
