AP Government Says No Irregularities in Mega DSC-2025 Sports Quota Selections

The Andhra Pradesh government has rejected allegations of irregularities in the selection of teachers under the sports quota in Mega DSC-2025, asserting that only eligible candidates were selected after scrutiny of official records, recruitment rules and verification reports.

School Education Commissioner Tameem Ansariya and SAAP Vice-Chairman and Managing Director Bharani said the selection process was conducted in accordance with prescribed norms. At a press conference on Monday, they addressed allegations relating to TET eligibility, caste certificates and sports credentials, while providing candidate-wise explanations.

The officials said genuine candidates should not lose employment opportunities because of unsubstantiated allegations. At the same time, they warned that action would be taken according to the rules if investigations establish that any candidate submitted forged certificates or violated eligibility conditions.

Tameem Ansariya said TET is mandatory for appointments to teach Classes 1 to 8, in line with Central government guidelines adopted in Andhra Pradesh. The qualifying mark is 60% (90 marks) for OC and EWS candidates, 50% (75 marks) for BC candidates and 40% (60 marks) for SC, ST, PwBD and ex-servicemen candidates.

TET scores carry 20% weightage in teacher recruitment, while the TRT written examination accounts for 80%. However, separate TET eligibility has not been prescribed for posts including Physical Education Teacher, School Assistant (Physical Education), Physical Director, PGT and Principal.

Officials said Ediga Prabhakar of Kurnool secured 77 marks in TET Paper-2B in 2018, with an inquiry into his case already underway. Jampala Usha, a BC-A candidate, scored 79 and 80 marks in 2012 and 76 in 2017, meeting the applicable 75-mark threshold.

Miriyala Gayathri Sai Sri of East Godavari scored 97.8 marks in AP TET-2024 Paper-2A, while Visakhapatnam candidate Pragada Kalyani secured 75 marks in AP TET-2018 Paper-2A.

Bharani said a provisional sports quota list was displayed from August 8 to 14, 2025, inviting objections, which were subsequently examined.

She said the 69 writ petitions before the Andhra Pradesh High Court concern issues surrounding certificates issued by the AP State Judo Association, whose validity is currently before the court. The High Court has directed the Vigilance Department to investigate and submit a report.

The officials also said Vigilance is examining allegations involving 21 judo candidates from one mandal, including claims that seven belong to the same family. They clarified that athletes can represent a district where they study or work, not necessarily their native district.

On EWS selections, officials said appointments were based on certificates issued by competent authorities. The government maintained that transparency, documentary verification and strict adherence to recruitment rules remain its guiding principles.
