AP Government Extends Support to Iranian Women Students, Sanctions ₹1 Lakh Aid

In a humanitarian response, the Andhra Pradesh government has extended financial assistance to international students affected by the ongoing geopolitical tensions in the West Asia region.

Two Iranian sisters, Zainab and Sulmaz , who are pursuing Pharmacy studies at Andhra University, faced financial difficulties after disruptions in support from their families due to the strained situation between the United States and Iran. The students brought their concerns to district officials, highlighting their hardship and seeking assistance.

Acting swiftly on their request, Visakhapatnam District Collector M. Abhishikth Kishore approved immediate relief of ₹1 lakh . The aid was arranged through multiple sources, with ₹50,000 allocated from the District Sanjeevani Fund and the remaining ₹50,000 provided through the Kanaka Mahalakshmi Temple Trust in Visakhapatnam.

Officials reiterated that the state government is committed to ensuring the welfare of foreign students studying in Andhra Pradesh, especially during times of international crisis, and assured continued support if necessary.
