AP expands kidney care: Seven new dialysis centres to be operational soon

The Government of Andhra Pradesh has announced plans to set up seven new dialysis centres across the state to improve access to kidney care, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas. This initiative is part of the state’s ongoing efforts to expand healthcare infrastructure and provide essential medical services to its population.

The new centres will be established at S. Kota in Vizianagaram district, Bhimavaram in West Godavari district, Pileru in Chittoor district, Seethampeta in Parvathipuram Manyam district, Venkatagiri in SPSR Nellore district, Addanki in Bapatla district, and Sunnipenta CHC in Nandyal district. Each centre will conduct three dialysis sessions daily, accommodating up to 15 patients per session. The centres will operate under the Prime Minister’s National Dialysis Programme (PMNDP), which provides free dialysis services to patients in need.

Under PMNDP guidelines, each centre will be equipped with three modern dialysis machines, valued at approximately ₹75 lakh per centre. These new facilities will ensure patients receive quality treatment close to their homes, reducing the need to travel long distances for dialysis. Currently, Andhra Pradesh has 232 operational dialysis centres, and with the addition of these seven centres, the total will increase to 239, strengthening the state’s healthcare network.

The management and operation of these new centres will follow the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, leveraging private sector efficiency while maintaining public accountability and accessibility. The Andhra Pradesh Medical Services and Infrastructure Development Corporation (APMSIDC) is overseeing the implementation of these centres.

Health Minister Satyakumar Yadav emphasized that the new dialysis centres are being set up in response to public requests and are part of a broader strategy to improve healthcare services across the state. He noted that these centres will reduce the physical and financial burden on patients who previously had to travel long distances for treatment.

Tentative timelines for operation While the exact operational dates have not yet been officially announced, construction and tender processes are underway. The Venkatagiri centre is reported to be nearing completion, and a tender was issued in early October 2025 for the Bhimavaram centre. Based on current progress, these new centres are expected to become operational in the coming months, providing timely relief for kidney patients across the state.

The establishment of these seven new dialysis centres represents a significant step toward improving kidney care accessibility in Andhra Pradesh. By expanding dialysis services, the state government aims to provide effective treatment to patients, enhancing their quality of life and contributing to the overall health and well-being of the community.
