AP CS Calls for Widespread Awareness on 2027 Census

The Andhra Pradesh government is gearing up to conduct the 2027 Population Census in a prestigious and smooth manner. Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand has directed district collectors to create widespread public awareness about the mega enumeration exercise.

The Chief Secretary chaired a high-level review meeting in Amaravati to assess the preparatory arrangements for the census. Speaking on the occasion, he stressed that public participation is crucial for the successful conduct of such a massive exercise. He said people must clearly understand the purpose of the census and the benefits it offers. Collectors were instructed to take appropriate steps to ensure public awareness.

Vijayanand reminded the collectors that State Census Director J. Nivas has already issued detailed guidelines related to the census. He instructed officials to strictly follow these guidelines and work responsibly to ensure the successful conduct of the 2027 Census .

The Chief Secretary also directed State Census Director Nivas to prepare special IEC (Information, Education and Communication) campaign material to educate the public about the census. He said the campaign material should be distributed to all districts and widely publicised from the village level to urban areas.

Officials noted that the census serves as a key foundation for policy formulation and development planning , making public cooperation essential. The meeting made it clear that the state government aims to effectively complete the 2027 Census through advance awareness programmes.

Officials were advised to encourage citizens to provide accurate information during the census. The Chief Secretary also emphasised the need to provide adequate training to field-level staff and to make effective use of technology during the enumeration process.
