AP congress launches signature campaign against vote chori

The Andhra Pradesh Congress Party has launched a statewide signature campaign against alleged vote theft, which will continue until October 15. Party president Y. S. Sharmila called on the people of the state to participate in large numbers, stressing that protecting voting rights is essential to safeguarding democracy.

In her appeal, Sharmila said the Constitution of India guarantees every citizen the right to vote, and the Election Commission of India (ECI) is duty-bound to ensure free and fair elections. However, she alleged that the Commission has become “captive to Prime Minister Modi” and is functioning as an “election agent of the BJP.”

Sharmila accused central institutions including the CBI, ED, Income Tax Department, RBI, and stock exchanges of working under BJP’s control. “Rahul Gandhi has already exposed this bitter truth to the nation,” she said, pointing to examples from Karnataka and Maharashtra.

“In the Mahadevapura constituency of Karnataka, over one lakh fraudulent votes were registered with fake names, photos, and addresses. In Maharashtra, more than 60 lakh votes were suddenly polled between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. Where is the CCTV footage? Where is the evidence? The Election Commission has none,” she alleged.

According to Sharmila, over one crore new votes were registered in the five months before the last elections, surpassing the numbers added in the previous five years. She claimed that genuine votes opposing the BJP were removed, while fake votes favoring the party were added.

“The Congress Party, under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi, has taken up this nationwide struggle against vote theft. We need the people’s support to protect both democracy and the Constitution. Your signature matters,” Sharmila appealed.
