AP CM Unveils Vision to Turn Coastline Into Global Trade Hub

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has directed officials to prepare a comprehensive vision plan to transform the state’s coastline into a major hub of economic activity and sustainable growth.

During a high-level review meeting, the Chief Minister asked officials to conduct a detailed study on investments , infrastructure, employment generation, fisheries, tourism, and livelihood opportunities across the state’s nearly 1,000-kilometre coastal belt. He said Andhra Pradesh has the potential to emerge as a key player in the rapidly expanding global Blue Economy .

Naidu highlighted the state’s leadership in aquaculture , especially in shrimp and fish exports, but stressed the need for greater value addition through modern processing, branding, and expanded export networks.

Expressing concern over pollution caused by aquaculture waste, he instructed departments to adopt environment-friendly practices and strengthen efforts to protect marine biodiversity .

The Chief Minister also called for scientific exploration of rare earth minerals available in coastal regions and asked officials to study their long-term economic potential.

To improve coastal protection against cyclones and natural disasters, Naidu proposed expanding mangroves and palm plantations as part of a natural defense system. He further directed officials to explore opportunities in seaweed cultivation, marketing, and marine-based industries to boost jobs and regional development.
