AP CM Proposes ‘Indian School of Agriculture’ to Strengthen Farm Sector

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has proposed setting up the Indian School of Agriculture , a premier institution aimed at strengthening the state’s agriculture sector . He made the proposal during the district collectors’ conference held at the State Secretariat in Amaravati on Wednesday.

The Chief Minister said agriculture remains a crucial pillar of the country’s economy and requires a strong institutional framework similar to the IT sector . He suggested establishing the institution on the lines of the Indian School of Business to promote research, innovation and modern technologies in farming.

Officials also reviewed the Swarna Andhra 2047 vision , development priorities and successful district-level initiatives during the meeting. Naidu directed collectors to ensure that government welfare and development programmes reach people effectively and that eligible beneficiaries receive scheme benefits without delay.

He said the government conducts administrative reviews every three months to maintain a balance between welfare, development and governance. Several reforms have been introduced in the administrative system over the past 20 months to improve efficiency and public service delivery.

The Chief Minister noted that governance is gradually shifting from traditional file-based work to virtual systems, enabling faster decision-making. He instructed collectors to ensure that government policies and targets are implemented effectively at the village level.

Naidu also asked officials to create wider awareness about the government’s ‘Super Six’ welfare schemes so that all eligible beneficiaries can access them.

He announced that the third installment of the ‘Annadata Sukhibhava’ scheme will be released on March 13, providing farmers with ₹20,000 annually as financial assistance. The funds will be directly credited to farmers’ bank accounts with contributions from both the Centre and the state government.

To support agriculture ahead of the Kharif season, irrigation water will be released by May 15. The Chief Minister also said mass housewarming ceremonies for about 2.5 lakh beneficiaries will be organised across the state as an Ugadi gift under the housing welfare programme.

For persons with disabilities, the government has introduced the ‘Indra Dhanussu’ scheme , offering free travel in RTC buses. The state has also implemented the ‘True Down’ mechanism in electricity tariffs, absorbing a financial burden of ₹4,600 crore, while power purchase prices will be reduced by 39 paise per unit this year.
