AP CM Calls for Robust System to Track Economic Growth from Mandal Level
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has called for major administrative reforms to strengthen Andhra Pradesh’s economy and achieve the goals of the “Swarna Andhra-2047” vision.
Speaking at a high-level review meeting on the Planning Department in Amaravati, the Chief Minister said the State must sustain an annual growth rate of at least 15 percent to meet its long-term development targets. He stressed that achieving such growth would require a modern governance system driven by accurate and real-time data .
Chandrababu Naidu directed officials to shift from traditional estimation methods to a fully data-driven administration model. He observed that the existing quarterly and annual GSDP estimates were inadequate for quick decision-making and instructed departments to implement monitoring systems across the State.
He also asked officials to create a mechanism to track monthly economic growth at district and mandal levels, stating that excessive dependence on historical data often delays policy implementation.
To improve the quality and speed of data collection, the Chief Minister proposed a three-month specialised training programme for officials from the State to mandal levels. Under the initiative, three officers from every Assembly constituency will be trained in GSDP estimation and advanced data analysis techniques.
Officials informed the meeting that Artificial Intelligence -based systems are being developed to assess growth in agriculture, industries and the services sector. Chandrababu Naidu instructed departments to include previously ignored economic indicators in official assessments to make policymaking more scientific and effective.
The review meeting also discussed statewide surveys and coordination of CPI auditing systems to improve planning efficiency and governance standards.
