AP Cabinet Backs Aviation Expansion, Clears 34 Development Proposals

The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by Chandrababu Naidu , approved 34 Key Proposals during its 50th meeting, outlining a broad development agenda spanning infrastructure, aviation, tourism, healthcare, rural development and renewable energy.

Briefing the media after the meeting, Information and Public Relations Minister K. Parthasarathy said the decisions are intended to accelerate economic growth, strengthen public infrastructure and attract new investments across the state.

Among the major approvals, the Cabinet sanctioned revised administrative clearance of ₹796 Crore for the Polavaram Left Main Canal Packages 5 and 5A . The funds will support canal excavation, embankment construction and lining works aimed at enhancing irrigation infrastructure.

The government also approved ₹547 Crore for infrastructure around the Amaravati High Court Complex , including roads, parking facilities, power supply systems, security installations and water infrastructure. In addition, a government guarantee of ₹300 Crore was cleared to help AP State FiberNet secure funding for expanding digital connectivity.

To strengthen the aviation sector, the Cabinet approved the Andhra Pradesh Aviation Policy 2026–31 . The policy aims to increase annual passenger capacity from 6.2 million to over 30 million by 2035 , while cargo-handling capacity is also expected to expand significantly. The government plans to develop Nine New Airports and 10 Waterdromes while encouraging investments in aerospace and aircraft maintenance services.

Tourism received a major boost with approval to invite bids for the proposed Amaravati Eye , a giant observation wheel planned along the Krishna River. The project is proposed on nearly 6 acres of land. The Cabinet also cleared draft guidelines for pilot beach shack projects in Chirala and Visakhapatnam to promote coastal tourism.

In a move aimed at supporting emerging technologies, the Cabinet exempted stamp duty and registration charges for 49.66 Acres allotted to the Quantum Valley Project in Amaravati.

The government also decided to introduce an ordinance implementing the Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues Act , strengthening oversight of organ donation and transplantation while helping curb illegal organ trade.

For rural households, the Cabinet approved the Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Livelihood Mission , which will take effect from July 1, 2026 . The programme increases guaranteed employment from 100 Days to 125 Days and provides compensation for delays in wage payments.

Administrative reforms were another focus area. The Cabinet approved the establishment of a special court in Vijayawada to speed up the trial of financial crime cases, including those linked to the Agri Gold scam, with 21 Posts proposed for its functioning.

In the energy sector, approval was granted to lease 46.69 Acres in Chittoor district for a solar power project, alongside additional land allocations for renewable energy and industrial ventures in other districts.

The Cabinet’s decisions reflect a multi-sector strategy aimed at improving infrastructure, boosting investment, generating employment and supporting Andhra Pradesh’s long-term economic development.
