
AP Bets Big on Tech Future, Global-Standard Training for 1 Million Youth
The Andhra Pradesh government has launched an ambitious “Deep-Tech Skilling” programme in partnership with IBM to prepare students for emerging global technology careers. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated the initiative, which aims to train 10 lakh students in advanced technologies over the next five years.
The programme will provide specialised training in high-demand sectors including Artificial Intelligence (AI) , Cybersecurity , Data Analytics , and Quantum Computing . Students will receive practical, industry-focused learning through digital platforms, along with globally recognised certifications upon completion.
As part of the initiative, the government is also setting up an Innovation Skilling Centre at Acharya Nagarjuna University with support from National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT). The centre will feature advanced laboratories and modern infrastructure dedicated to futuristic fields such as Quantum Computing and Semiconductor Technology . It is expected to begin functioning from the current academic year.
Speaking at the launch, Chandrababu Naidu said the state aims to transform Andhra Pradesh into a “Quantum Valley.” He highlighted the achievements of state students in the NPTEL examinations, where they won four gold medals and 14 silver medals nationally, and urged students to use the opportunity to drive innovation and enhance the state’s global reputation.
