AP ASHA Recruitment 2026: Government Approves 913 Vacant Posts

The Andhra Pradesh government has approved the recruitment of 913 ASHA workers to fill vacancies across the state, with Health Minister Satyakumar Yadav saying the move is aimed at achieving a zero-vacancy position in the frontline community health workforce.

The latest recruitment drive is expected to complete the filling of all vacant ASHA positions in the state. According to the minister, the coalition government has filled 1,294 ASHA posts over the past two years since taking office. With the newly approved appointments, the number of posts filled during this period will rise to 2,207.

Of the 913 positions cleared for recruitment, 673 are in rural areas, 64 in tribal areas and 176 in urban areas, reflecting the continued focus on strengthening healthcare delivery at the grassroots level.

The recruitment will be conducted in accordance with Central Government guidelines through District Health Societies headed by the respective District Collectors.

Preference will be given to local women from the concerned village or ward, in line with the community-based nature of the ASHA programme. Applicants must have completed Class 10 and fall within the 25-45 age group.

Health and Family Welfare Commissioner Chakradhar Babu said district authorities have been directed to complete the selection process and forward the recruitment lists by September 30.

Anakapalli has the highest number of vacancies at 77, followed by Kurnool with 65. East Godavari has 44 vacancies, while Alluri Sitharama Raju and Parvathipuram Manyam have 43 each. West Godavari has 42, followed by Annamayya with 41.

Prakasam and YSR Kadapa have 38 vacancies each, while Krishna has 37. Visakhapatnam has 33, Chittoor and Konaseema 32 each, and Palnadu and Vizianagaram 31 each.

Kakinada and SPSR Nellore have 29 vacancies each, followed by Eluru with 27 and Anantapur with 26. Markapuram has 25 vacancies, while Sri Sathya Sai and Srikakulam have 22 each.

Guntur, Nandyal, Polavaram and Tirupati have 21 vacancies each. NTR district has 15 vacancies, while Bapatla has seven.

An ASHA worker receives ₹10,000 a month as remuneration. The state government contributes ₹8,320, while the Centre provides the remaining amount.

The annual expenditure on ASHA workers' remuneration is estimated at up to ₹513 crore. Andhra Pradesh bears as much as ₹426.84 crore of this expenditure, with the balance being funded by the Central Government.

The recruitment is part of the state's broader effort to maintain adequate frontline health personnel and ensure uninterrupted community-level healthcare services.
