Anti-drug checks at DJ concert identify 8 drug users
The Telangana State Anti-Narcotics unit, known as the ‘Eagle Force,’ has identified eight individuals using drugs during a high-profile DJ concert in Hyderabad. The operation aimed to curb drug use at the event and raise awareness rather than punish attendees.
Acting on a tip-off, the Eagle Force, along with Cyberabad police, conducted checks on December 27 at a nightclub hosting Ukrainian DJ Artbat. As part of precautionary measures, they screened attendees using advanced drug testing kits.
A total of 14 people were tested, and eight were found to have consumed drugs. Officials clarified that the objective of the operation was preventive, focusing on education, counseling, and rehabilitation, not prosecution.
Of those identified, five voluntarily admitted to drug use, while three initially denied it. Subsequent tests using different equipment confirmed their drug use. Authorities noted that all eight were already on the Eagle Force’s list of suspects and may have used drugs in other locations as well.
The identified individuals will be called to the Cyberabad Narcotics Police Station along with their parents for counseling. If necessary, they may also be referred to de-addiction and rehabilitation centers, officials said.
