Another feather in her cap! Alia Bhatt wins Golden Globes Horizon Award

lit up the Red Sea International Film Festival in Jeddah with a dazzling appearance, where she was honoured with the prestigious US Golden Globes Horizon Award . The award, introduced to spotlight emerging global trailblazers, is given to artists whose work is shaping the future of international cinema.

The festival also hosted a special retrospective celebrating Alia’s journey from a young Bollywood artiste to one of India’s most influential global actors.

president of the Golden Globes, shared the announcement on Instagram, praising Alia as “an exceptional talent whose global impact reflects the rising creative energy of the Middle East, Asia, and beyond.” This year, the Horizon Award was jointly presented to Alia and acclaimed Tunisian actress Hend Sabry for their contributions to film and television.

Expressing gratitude, Alia called the recognition “an honour” and said it holds deep meaning for young performers and women pushing boundaries in global cinema. She noted that the honour arrives at a time when “voices from around the world are coming together to tell more inclusive and impactful stories,” adding that she hopes to continue portraying powerful and deserving women through her work.

During the festival, Alia also offered fresh insight into her upcoming film Alpha , calling it a “risk” because it leads the YRF Spy Universe with a woman at the forefront. “Alpha is the first female led action film from the YRF universe… you’ve not historically seen that perform in the same way male led films have,” she said, highlighting both the challenge and the excitement surrounding the project.

Alpha , the seventh film in the YRF Spy Universe, stars Alia Bhatt, Sharvari, and Bobby Deol in lead roles. Produced by Yash Raj Films, it is slated to release on April 17, 2026, and is being billed as a major step forward for female driven action cinema in India.
