Andrew and Tristan Tate Arrested in Miami as UK Seeks Extradition Over 59 Criminal Charges

Andrew Tate and Tristan Tate have been arrested in Miami, Florida , after the US Marshals Service executed a sealed warrant following a formal extradition request from the United Kingdom . The controversial influencer brothers are wanted over dozens of criminal charges, including rape, human trafficking, sexual exploitation, assault, and offences related to indecent images of a child.

The arrests on Saturday have thrust the United States into a complex international legal battle involving criminal investigations in both the UK and Romania. The brothers, who hold dual US and British citizenship, are expected to appear before a federal court in Miami early next week to begin extradition proceedings.

British prosecutors announced they are seeking the Tates' extradition over alleged offences committed between 2010 and 2017 . The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said the case now includes 59 criminal charges involving seven alleged victims . Andrew Tate faces 42 charges , while Tristan Tate faces 17 charges . The allegations include rape, human trafficking, actual bodily harm, sexual exploitation, profiting from prostitution, offences involving indecent images of a child, and extreme pornography.

The brothers moved to Romania in 2016 and were arrested there in December 2022 on separate allegations of rape, human trafficking, and forming an organised crime group to sexually exploit women. Although Romanian prosecutors formally charged them in 2023, the case has faced repeated legal setbacks and procedural challenges. In April 2026, a Romanian court lifted the remaining judicial restrictions on the brothers, allowing them to travel while the investigation continued.

Andrew and Tristan later travelled to Florida after leaving Romania on a private jet. Their latest arrest came just months after British prosecutors expanded their case with additional alleged victims and charges.

Attorney Joseph McBride , who represents the brothers in the United States, dismissed the UK allegations as politically motivated. Calling the charges "filth and slander," he argued they were intended to derail the brothers' ongoing defamation lawsuits in the US. McBride said he was confident the courts would ultimately clear his clients.

Andrew Tate, a former kickboxing champion, first gained mainstream attention after appearing on the UK reality show Big Brother in 2016 before being removed from the programme following the emergence of assault allegations. He later built one of the internet's largest followings by promoting a hyper masculine lifestyle, accumulating more than 10 million followers on X while being banned from YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook for violating hate speech and harmful content policies.
