Andhra, Telangana Weather Today: Andhra Sizzles Under Heat-Storm As Telangana Sees Rain
The two Telugu states are experiencing a split in weather conditions, with Telangana seeing scattered rainfall in several districts while Andhra Pradesh battles a combination of thunderstorm activity along the coast and severe heat inland.
A low-pressure system developing over the Bay of Bengal is driving unstable weather across both states, with the Southwest Monsoon expected to cover parts of the South Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Sea very shortly, marking the early stages of its northward advance.
In Telangana , districts of Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, and Mahabubabad are receiving rain with thunder and lightning, while Jayashankar Bhupalpally and Mulugu have been placed under a strong wind warning with gusts of 40–50 kmph . Northern districts, Adilabad, Asifabad, Nirmal, and Nizamabad , are under heatwave conditions , with the heat expected to spread towards Karimnagar and Peddapalli in the coming days. In Hyderabad , skies are largely sunny with the mercury touching 37°C and humidity dropping to around 24% , making it a dry and warm day for the city.
In Andhra Pradesh , the weather is sharply divided between the coast and the interior. Districts of Alluri, Polavaram, West Godavari, Eluru, Krishna, NTR, Guntur, Bapatla, Nellore, Chittoor, and Tirupati are likely to receive light to moderate rain with thunderstorms and lightning, and farmers and livestock owners have been advised to seek safe shelter at the first sign of overcast skies or thunder. Meanwhile, Alluri Sitarama Raju district faces severe heatwave conditions with temperatures expected to touch 44°C . In Amaravati , the capital sits under partly cloudy skies with temperatures in the 38–40°C range and elevated coastal humidity making conditions feel considerably warmer than the thermometer reads.
The IMD has advised residents across both states, particularly those in lightning-prone zones, to stay updated with official advisories and avoid open fields or exposed areas during thunderstorm activity. The monsoon's gradual approach offers some relief on the horizon, though the interior districts of both states are likely to remain dry and hot for at least several more days.
