Andhra seek Global partnerships in Urban development and Tourism sectors
Efforts to enhance Andhra Pradesh’s global presence and attract foreign investments were strengthened through the overseas visits of two State Ministers — Dr. P. Narayana, Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development, and Kandula Durgesh, Minister for Tourism, Culture and Cinematography. Both leaders engaged with international business and tourism representatives on Tuesday to promote the State’s investment potential and cultural identity.
Meetings in Dubai for Urban and Logistics Investment
The second day of Dr. P. Narayana’s visit to Dubai was marked by a series of discussions with industrial leaders in the fields of logistics, urban infrastructure, and manufacturing. Meetings were held with Apparel Group Chairman Nilesh Ved and Transworld Group Chairman Ramesh Ramakrishnan, two influential business leaders based in the United Arab Emirates.
The Apparel Group, which operates in more than 14 countries across the fashion and footwear sectors, was invited to explore investment possibilities in Andhra Pradesh. Opportunities in apparel manufacturing, warehousing, and export-oriented industries were explained.
During discussions with the Transworld Group, the Minister presented Andhra Pradesh’s plans to develop into a major logistics hub under the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. The State’s focus on port-led industrialization, logistics infrastructure, and simplified policy frameworks was highlighted.
Both companies were invited to participate in the Partnership Summit 2025, to be held in Visakhapatnam on November 14 and 15, which is expected to bring together global investors, business delegates, and policymakers.
If these proposals advance successfully, Andhra Pradesh could witness major developments in logistics infrastructure, industrial parks, and employment generation. Such projects could potentially attract investments estimated between ₹1,500 crore and ₹3,000 crore, according to government sources familiar with the discussions.
Tourism Promotion in London at World Travel Market 2025
Meanwhile, in London, Minister Kandula Durgesh began a busy diplomatic and promotional schedule at the World Travel Market (WTM) 2025, one of the world’s largest international travel and tourism events. The India Pavilion, organized by the Union Ministry of Tourism, was inaugurated jointly by the Deputy High Commissioner of India in London and tourism ministers from several Indian states.
As part of the event, the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Stall was opened with a traditional Kuchipudi dance performance, symbolizing the State’s cultural richness and classical heritage. The Minister interacted with representatives from around 20 international organizations, including global tour operators, hotel investors, MICE representatives, travel magazine editors, and media bloggers.
Discussions were held on expanding foreign direct investment in the hospitality sector, developing integrated tourism circuits, and promoting film tourism under the State’s Cinematography portfolio. Andhra Pradesh’s tourism destinations — such as Visakhapatnam, Araku Valley, Gandikota, and Tirupati — were presented as key attractions suitable for international promotion.
If successful follow-up measures are undertaken, these initiatives could bring tourism investments worth ₹300–₹500 crore and generate employment opportunities in hospitality, transport, and local crafts. The Minister stated that coordinated efforts are being made to bring international recognition to Andhra Pradesh’s tourism and cultural sectors through global collaborations and sustained marketing initiatives.
Long-Term Economic Significance
Both ministerial engagements have been viewed as part of a broader initiative to project Andhra Pradesh as an investment-friendly and globally connected state.
• In the urban development and logistics sectors, the proposed collaborations could improve industrial efficiency, export capacity, and employment generation.
• In the tourism and culture sectors, sustained engagement with international travel networks could lead to stronger branding of Andhra Pradesh as a global tourist destination.
According to officials, the actual outcomes of these visits are expected to be reflected during or after the Partnership Summit 2025, where companies met abroad may sign preliminary agreements or letters of intent.
If these investment and tourism opportunities are successfully realized, Andhra Pradesh could experience significant growth in infrastructure, logistics, manufacturing, and hospitality sectors, along with an enhanced global profile for its cultural and cinematic identity.
