Andhra Pradesh’s Coalition Era Hits Historic Milestone, Says Chandrababu
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu described June 4 as a significant day in the state's political history as the TDP-BJP-Jana Sena alliance completed two years in office following its landslide victory in the 2024 Assembly elections.
After a Cabinet meeting held to mark the occasion, Naidu said the mandate reflected the people's desire to place Andhra Pradesh on a renewed path of development . The alliance's sweeping performance in the 2024 polls transformed the state's political landscape, with the coalition winning 164 seats in the Assembly and paving the way for Naidu's fourth term as Chief Minister.
Reflecting on the government's tenure, Naidu said the administration has focused on welfare , development, transparency , and inclusive growth. He reiterated his commitment to strengthening the state's economy, ensuring balanced regional development, and improving the quality of life for all sections of society.
The anniversary, however, also underscored the continuing political rivalry in the state. The opposition YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) , led by former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, observed the day as a protest under the banner "Two Years of Betrayal."
The YSRCP accused the coalition government of failing to implement several key promises made during the 2024 election campaign. Party leaders alleged that major commitments outlined in the alliance's manifesto remain unfulfilled and claimed voters had been let down.
As part of the statewide protest campaign , YSRCP leaders and workers displayed copies of the coalition's election manifesto and campaign guarantee bonds, arguing that they serve as evidence of unkept promises. The party said its protest programme would continue across towns and constituency headquarters until June 12.
With the government highlighting its achievements and the opposition stepping up its criticism, the second anniversary of coalition rule has become another flashpoint in Andhra Pradesh's increasingly competitive political landscape.
