Andhra Pradesh unveils Quantum Computing Policy with major incentives

Andhra Pradesh has taken a major step to establish itself as a national leader in quantum computing. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu launched the Andhra Pradesh Quantum Computing Policy 2025-30, aiming to transform the state into a global hub for cutting-edge technology. The proposed Quantum Valley in Amaravati will serve as the central ecosystem for innovation, research, and industry collaboration.

In a bold move to encourage breakthrough research, Chandrababu Naidu had previously announced a ₹100 crore reward for any Andhra-born scientist who wins a Nobel Prize in quantum computing, drawing nationwide attention. With this new policy, the government is providing structured support to propel Andhra Pradesh to the forefront of the quantum sector, generating excitement particularly among Gen Z and young innovators.

The policy offers significant support for startups entering the quantum computing space. Early-stage “ideation” startups can receive grants up to ₹30 lakh, while ventures aiming to develop market-ready products can access seed funding up to ₹1 crore. To help companies scale locally and compete globally, the government will provide up to ₹5 crore in go-to-market support, and will also cover 75% of patent filing costs, reducing financial barriers for innovators.

To ease initial operational costs, selected startups can get 100% rental subsidies for up to 20 workstations. They will also have access to quantum computing and high-performance computing facilities at minimal or no cost. The policy includes financial support for startups to participate in international technology events and exhibitions, helping them gain global exposure.

The policy lays out a three-stage plan to make Andhra Pradesh a global quantum leader by 2030. The first stage focuses on talent development, strengthening computing foundations in students and providing specialized training for teachers. The second stage targets infrastructure development, creating facilities for quantum system testing and benchmarking. The third stage will drive industry integration, establishing pilot projects and incubation centers in Amaravati to connect research, talent, and startups.

Unlike other states that rely largely on traditional employment models, Andhra Pradesh is focusing on a knowledge-based economy, preparing to lead the next technological revolution. Chandrababu Naidu, credited with laying the foundation for India’s IT boom, now aims to achieve a similar transformative impact in quantum computing.

The Chief Minister emphasized that quantum technologies will shape the future of global computing, manufacturing, and national competitiveness, and Andhra Pradesh must lead in this field. By bringing together talent, research, and industry through the Quantum Valley, the state plans to create high-value jobs for its youth and establish a complete startup ecosystem from concept to market.

Experts believe this ambitious policy will position Andhra Pradesh as a model state in India’s quantum computing landscape, guiding innovation and industry growth nationwide.
