The Election Commission of India is launching a massive voter verification drive across Andhra Pradesh to make the electoral process more transparent , accurate, and free from errors. The statewide Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 exercise will use July 1, 2026 , as the qualifying date for voter eligibility.

Nearly 46,397 Booth Level Officers ( BLOs ) will carry out a door-to-door survey to verify the details of around 4.16 crore voters across the state. Officials will check names, addresses, age, and residential status while removing entries of deceased voters and those who have permanently relocated. The drive will also focus on enrolling newly eligible youth voters who have turned 18 .

To improve transparency , the Election Commission is involving political parties in the process through 68,868 Booth Level Agents ( BLAs ), who will work alongside election officials during field verification. Authorities believe this will help ensure fairness and build public confidence in the revision process.

According to the official schedule, preparatory work and staff training will take place from June 6 to June 14 , followed by the house-to-house survey from June 15 to July 14 . Officials will also review and reorganize polling booths wherever required.

The draft voter list will be released on July 21 , allowing citizens to apply for new registrations, corrections, and objections until August 20 . After reviewing all claims, the Election Commission will publish the final electoral roll on September 22 .

Officials say the large-scale revision is aimed at eliminating duplicate and fake entries while creating a cleaner and more reliable database . Citizens have been urged to actively participate in the exercise, which authorities describe as essential for strengthening democracy .
