Andhra Pradesh Records 20% Growth in Commercial Tax Collections in October
Andhra Pradesh recorded a 20 per cent year-on-year growth in commercial tax collections in October 2026, with revenue reaching Rs 5,329 crore, an increase of Rs 871 crore over the corresponding month last year, a senior official said on Sunday.
Babu A, Chief Commissioner of State Tax, said the state collected Rs 35,765 crore during April-October 2026, compared with Rs 30,351 crore in the same period last year, registering an 18 per cent increase.
Net GST collections in October rose 19 per cent to Rs 3,582 crore from Rs 3,021 crore a year earlier. Cumulatively, Net GST collections increased 17.4 per cent to Rs 23,217 crore during April-October, against Rs 19,781 crore in the corresponding period last year.
The state's gross GST collections grew 24 per cent, significantly exceeding the national growth rate of 16 per cent. State GST (SGST) collections also increased 21 per cent to Rs 1,504 crore, reflecting improved revenue mobilisation.
The department has previously highlighted technology-driven enforcement measures, including AI-based data analytics, automated scrutiny, UPI-based monitoring, Aadhaar authentication and electricity distribution company-linked registration verification, to identify tax discrepancies and prevent fraudulent input tax credit claims.
Earlier reports identified machinery, iron and steel, plastics and electrical equipment among key contributors to revenue growth, alongside financial, professional, technical and real estate services.
However, October-specific figures for petroleum VAT, liquor VAT, professional tax, IGST settlements and sector-wise contributions were not provided in the latest statement.
The department attributed the improved collections to better tax compliance, stronger enforcement and effective revenue monitoring, alongside broader economic activity.
