Andhra Pradesh Home Minister V. Anitha has directed officials across the state to remain on high alert for the next five days as a cyclone threat looms over the Bay of Bengal. She called for precautionary measures to prevent loss of life and property and stressed the need for coordinated action to deal with any emergency arising from adverse weather conditions.

Anitha instructed district collectors, superintendents of police and field-level officials to work in close coordination and continuously monitor the evolving situation. She also directed authorities to keep the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) ready to carry out rescue and relief operations in vulnerable areas.

Officials have been asked to remove unsafe hoardings and make arrangements to shift residents of coastal areas to safer locations if necessary. District control centres must regularly review the situation and ensure that emergency measures are implemented promptly in response to changing weather conditions.

With cyclone warnings in place, the Home Minister urged fishermen to avoid venturing into the sea until conditions become safe. She also directed officials to prevent tourists from visiting beaches as a precautionary measure.

Warning of possible heavy rainfall and strong winds, Anitha appealed to people to exercise caution over the coming five days. She advised the public to stay away from dangerous locations, particularly areas where high waves are expected, and refrain from taking selfies near the sea or engaging in other risky activities.

The minister also urged farmers and residents to take necessary precautions to minimise potential losses. She cautioned people against believing or forwarding rumours circulating on social media, emphasising the importance of relying on verified information during emergencies.

Anitha asked the public to regularly follow official weather alerts and updates issued by the Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) and the Real Time Governance Society (RTGS).

Reiterating the need for preparedness, she called on all government departments to work together and prioritise public safety as the state prepares for the possible impact of the approaching cyclone.
