Andhra Pradesh Launches 58 Modern Firefighting Vehicles at ₹40 Crore Cost
Andhra Pradesh has strengthened its emergency response infrastructure with the induction of 58 modern firefighting vehicles purchased at a cost of ₹40 crore. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu formally launched the vehicles by flagging them off on Seed Access Road.
Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha, Fire Services Director General Venkata Ramana and senior officials attended the launch programme.
The newly inducted fleet includes 25 advanced firefighting vehicles, 20 water bowsers and 13 quick-response multipurpose firefighting vehicles. The equipment has been selected to address different emergency situations, particularly in rural, forest and densely populated areas.
The 25 advanced firefighting vehicles are intended to improve the department’s ability to tackle emergencies in rural and forest regions, where access and response can often be challenging. The 20 water bowsers will provide a continuous water supply during major fires, helping firefighting teams sustain operations for longer periods.
The 13 quick-response multipurpose vehicles are designed to reach narrow, congested locations quickly and support immediate rescue and firefighting operations. Their mobility is expected to improve response times in areas where larger firefighting vehicles may face access difficulties.
Officials briefed the Chief Minister on the capabilities and operational features of the newly deployed vehicles. The latest procurement is part of the state government’s broader effort to modernise the Fire Services Department and strengthen its preparedness for fires and other disasters.
The government had earlier added 65 firefighting vehicles at a cost of ₹33 crore in the first phase. With the latest induction, the state is further expanding its fleet and emergency-response capacity.
Officials said the modernisation programme is aimed at enabling the department to respond faster and more effectively to fires, accidents and other disasters across Andhra Pradesh.
