On the occasion of International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu extended his greetings to persons with disabilities. He emphasized that raising awareness about their rights, dignity, safety, and welfare is a responsibility that rests with society as a whole.

The Chief Minister highlighted that persons with disabilities continue to showcase remarkable talent across various fields, overcoming challenges along the way. He specifically praised Karuna Kumari from Manyam district for her outstanding performance in the recently concluded TU20 Blind Women’s Cricket World Cup.

“Today reminds us of the need to raise awareness about the challenges faced by persons with disabilities and to work towards protecting their rights and dignity. I extend my best wishes to all those excelling in different fields,” the CM stated in a social media post.

He also described the achievements of persons with disabilities as inspiring for society, noting that they are not second to anyone in any field. To improve their living standards, the government has increased disability pensions from ₹3,000 to ₹6,000. The CM urged citizens to ensure that persons with disabilities have equal rights, protection, and respect in all aspects of life.

International Day of Persons with Disabilities is observed globally every year on December 3. The day aims to raise awareness about the rights, dignity, safety, and equal opportunities of persons with disabilities. It also highlights the importance of reducing discrimination and barriers, ensuring access to education, employment, healthcare, and transportation.

Recognizing and encouraging the achievements of persons with disabilities in areas like sports, education, and employment is another key purpose of this day. Overall, International Day of Persons with Disabilities reminds us of our collective responsibility to build a world where everyone can live with equal rights, opportunities, and respect.
