Andhra Pradesh is reeling under intense heat , with soaring temperatures leaving people distressed as the sun continues to blaze. Based on the severity recorded on Sunday, conditions are expected to remain alarming today as well.

Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) Managing Director Prakhar Jain warned that around 70 mandals across the state are likely to experience heatwave conditions today. He urged people stepping outdoors to remain cautious and take necessary measures to avoid heatstroke .

According to data from Sunday, severe heatwave conditions prevailed in 19 mandals , while another 35 mandals experienced heatwave impact. A day earlier, on Saturday, temperatures crossed 40°C in nearly 200 mandals . The districts of Krishna, NTR, Palnadu, Prakasam, Nellore , and the Rayalaseema region are witnessing particularly harsh conditions.

Temperatures recorded over the past two days have been alarming. On Saturday, Pottipadu in Kadapa district registered the highest temperature at 44.7°C , followed by Kommipadu (Nellore district) at 44.3°C , Varadaiahpalem (Tirupati district) at 44.2°C , and Gospadu (Nandyal district) at 42.8°C , as per the Disaster Management Authority. The North Coastal districts are also experiencing significant heatwave impact.

Officials estimate that maximum temperatures will remain high in the South Coastal and Rayalaseema districts today. Over the next 24 hours, high humidity levels may make conditions feel more oppressive, increasing discomfort.

In view of the extreme heat and heatwave conditions , the APSDMA has advised the public to remain vigilant. Elderly persons, pregnant women, and children have been urged to avoid venturing out during peak hours, while people are advised to stay hydrated and take precautions to prevent dehydration and heatstroke , according to an official statement.
