Andhra Gets ₹4,597 Crore Boost as Naidu Thanks PM Modi, Sitharaman
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman after the Centre released an additional ₹4,597 crore to the state as its share of central taxes, calling the move a significant boost for development.
According to the chief minister, the amount has been released along with the regular monthly tax devolution, which is generally transferred to states on the 10th of every month. He described the additional allocation as timely financial support that would help the state accelerate ongoing infrastructure, welfare and growth-oriented programmes.
In a post on X, Naidu said the extra allocation would provide greater momentum to Andhra Pradesh's development journey and strengthen the implementation of priority projects across sectors. He thanked the Prime Minister and the Finance Minister on behalf of the people of the state for what he termed their continued support.
"The additional allocation of ₹4,597 crore as Andhra Pradesh's share in central taxes, released along with the regular monthly tax devolution, will further accelerate development programmes in the state," Naidu said, adding that the financial assistance would reinforce the government's efforts to deliver faster and more effective public services.
The chief minister also noted that the Centre's sustained backing has been playing an important role in the state's progress. He said consistent financial support from the Union government has enabled Andhra Pradesh to maintain momentum in its development agenda while pursuing long-term growth objectives.
The additional tax devolution is expected to improve the state's fiscal capacity, allowing it to meet expenditure requirements for key projects and public initiatives. Higher untied funds also provide governments with greater flexibility in allocating resources according to local priorities and administrative needs.
The latest allocation comes as states continue to rely on central tax devolution as a major source of revenue, supporting infrastructure expansion, welfare programmes, and economic development while helping maintain fiscal stability and improve governance outcomes.
