Andhra Aims to Provide Quality Healthcare for All, Says AP CM
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday said the Andhra Pradesh government’s main goal is to ensure good healthcare for all citizens and turn the State into a “Healthy Andhra Pradesh.”
During his visit to Thummishi village in Shantipuram mandal of Chittoor district , the Chief Minister inspected a Village Health Clinic and interacted with local residents. He reviewed digital health records prepared under the Sanjeevani health project and discussed health issues with villagers.
Mr. Naidu said Andhra Pradesh is working closely with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation , and announced that Bill Gates is expected to visit the State soon to support the healthcare initiative.
Health check-ups for 7.2 million people:
The Chief Minister said the government has already conducted medical tests for about 7.2 million people and is creating digital health profiles to track their health conditions. The Sanjeevani project, first launched as a pilot in Kuppam , has now been extended to Chittoor district and will be rolled out across the State by the end of this year.
He added that the programme is being implemented with support from TCS and the Gates Foundation , using advanced technology that allows people to access their health records securely through biometric identification.
Use of AI and focus on preventive care:
Mr. Naidu said the government is planning to introduce AI-based medical services to improve early diagnosis and treatment. Under the programme, 42 types of medical tests will be conducted, and each person will receive a health score based on their results.
People suffering from lifestyle-related diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, anaemia and heart conditions will be identified early and provided treatment from specialist doctors. Necessary medicines will also be supplied directly to patients.
Financial aid to bereaved family:
During the visit, the Chief Minister interacted with women suffering from anaemia and directed officials to ensure proper medical care. He also met the family of a man who recently died of a heart attack and announced ₹3 lakh as financial assistance from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
Mr. Naidu said the government’s aim is to use technology to strengthen healthcare services and ensure that even poor families receive quality medical treatment similar to corporate hospitals.
