Ande Sri’s Legacy Honoured as Telangana Government Fulfils Promises to Poet’s Family: Bhatti Vikramarka

Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka on Saturday said the state government had fulfilled every commitment made to the family of renowned poet and Telangana movement cultural icon Dr. Ande Sri , while ensuring that he received the honour and recognition he deserved.

Along with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy , Bhatti performed the bhoomi puja for ‘Ande Sri Smriti Vanam’ at Ghatkesar in Medchal-Malkajgiri district , where the poet’s final rites were conducted. The memorial park is being developed as a tribute to Ande Sri’s immense contribution to Telangana’s cultural identity and social consciousness.

Addressing a public gathering on July 19 , Bhatti said many governments announce initiatives but fail to implement them, while the Congress government in Telangana was committed to keeping its promises and maintaining public trust.

Recalling the poet’s final journey, Bhatti said Chief Minister Revanth Reddy personally carried Ande Sri’s bier and paid his last respects , demonstrating the highest regard for a literary personality who dedicated his life to the Telangana cause.

The Deputy Chief Minister said Ande Sri’s journey from a poor Dalit family to becoming a celebrated people’s poet reflected his determination and commitment to society. He added that recognising such a personality was the government’s responsibility.

Bhatti stated that all five major assurances given to Ande Sri’s family during his funeral had been fulfilled. As promised, the government provided his son Dattu with a lecturer’s post at BJR Degree College . The government has also instructed the Education Department to print and distribute 20,000 copies of Ande Sri’s famous poetry collection ‘Nippula Vaagu’ to promote his writings among the public.

He said the construction of Ande Sri Smriti Vanam was another fulfilled commitment. The state government has also officially recommended Padma Shri recognition for Ande Sri to the Central government.

Highlighting the poet’s contribution, Bhatti said Ande Sri’s iconic song “Jaya Jayahe Telangana” became a symbol of the state’s identity and was declared the official state song, now played at government events.

He praised Ande Sri’s works, including “Mayamaipothunnadamma Manishannavadu,” for spreading messages of humanity, compassion and social responsibility, and called upon people to preserve his literary legacy for future generations.
