The murder of a seven-year-old boy in Yadiki mandal of Anantapur district on Thursday has created a major sensation. The accused, who brutally killed his own relative , allegedly attacked the police while attempting to escape, prompting them to open fire at his legs.

According to the background of the incident, the victim, seven-year-old Venchandra from Konauppalapadu village in Yadiki mandal, was kidnapped and strangled to death by his relative, Sarvesh Kumar , on Thursday. Police registered a case and took the accused into custody, probing whether family disputes or other motives were behind the crime.

During the investigation, on Friday morning, police took the accused to the crime spot for a scene reconstruction . While being led into a hilly area to explain how the crime occurred, Sarvesh suddenly turned aggressive. In an attempt to escape, he picked up an empty beer bottle lying nearby and attacked the police indiscriminately.

In the attack, Peddavaduguru Inspector Rama Subbaiah and Constable Venkatesh sustained injuries. As the accused tried to flee into the hills after assaulting them, Inspector Rama Subbaiah reacted swiftly and fired four rounds from his service weapon in self-defence . The bullets struck the accused in the legs, causing him to collapse on the spot.

The injured accused, Sarvesh Kumar, was taken into custody and shifted to the Tadipatri Government Hospital for treatment. The injured police personnel are also receiving treatment at the same hospital. The village, already in grief over the child’s death, has witnessed heightened tension following the firing incident.
