The Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which markets its products under the Amul brand, announced on Saturday that it will reduce retail prices of more than 700 product packs across categories, passing on the benefits of the recent Goods and Services Tax (GST) rate cut to consumers. The new prices will come into effect from September 22, 2025, just ahead of the festive season, making dairy products more affordable for households nationwide.

GCMMF stated that the price revision covers a wide array of products, including butter, ghee, UHT milk, ice cream, cheese, paneer, chocolates, bakery items, frozen dairy and potato snacks, condensed milk, peanut spread, and malt-based drinks. The cooperative highlighted that this move aims to boost consumption, particularly of items like ice cream, cheese, and butter, where per capita consumption in India remains low, indicating substantial growth potential.

Key price revisions include:

• Butter (100 gm): Reduced from Rs 62 to Rs 58.

• Ghee (per litre): Reduced by Rs 40 to Rs 610.

• Amul Processed Cheese Block (1 kg): Reduced by Rs 30 to Rs 545.

• Frozen Paneer (200 gm): Reduced from Rs 99 to Rs 95.

The cooperative has communicated the changes to its distributors, Amul parlours, and retail partners across the country to ensure smooth implementation. GCMMF emphasized that the revision reflects the full benefits of the GST reduction, allowing consumers to access quality dairy products at more competitive prices.

GCMMF, which is owned by 36 lakh farmer members, expects that the price cuts will stimulate demand and contribute to growth in turnover. In the last fiscal year, the Amul brand reported an 11 percent rise in revenue to Rs 65,911 crore, driven by higher volumes across all product categories. The total unduplicated revenue of Amul reached around Rs 90,000 crore, up from Rs 80,000 crore in 2023-24.

The move by Amul comes shortly after Mother Dairy announced price reductions on its products, also effective from September 22, 2025, following the GST Council’s decision to reduce tax rates on dairy items.

By passing on GST benefits, Amul aims to make high-quality dairy products more accessible for Indian households while simultaneously supporting the incomes of its farmer members. Analysts expect that the price cuts will increase consumption, particularly during the festive season, and reinforce Amul’s position as a market leader in India’s dairy sector.

This initiative highlights how GST reductions are being translated into consumer savings, encouraging households to purchase dairy items and strengthening the cooperative’s long-term growth prospects.
