A 3.1 magnitude tremor shook Amreli district on Sunday, marking the second seismic event in six days in the Saurashtra region . The tremor occurred at 4:10 pm , with its epicenter about 42 km south-southeast of Amreli at a shallow depth of 11.6 km , according to the Gandhinagar-based Institute of Seismological Research .

Officials reported no casualties or property damage . However, residents, especially in Mityala village , felt the tremor noticeably. “Many mild tremors have been experienced in Amreli in recent days. Sunday’s tremor was significantly felt,” said Savarkundla MLA Mahesh Kaswala .

The region had witnessed a similar tremor earlier this week. A 3.2 magnitude tremor struck Rajkot district on Tuesday, raising concerns about increased seismic activity in Saurashtra .

In response, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel assured that a technical team would be dispatched to Amreli for further inspection and monitoring. Authorities continue to advise residents to remain vigilant , although the risk from these shallow tremors is considered low.

While the tremors have not caused any immediate damage, experts highlight the importance of seismic awareness in the region, which has a history of mild quakes. Local leaders are coordinating with technical teams to assess potential risks and improve preparedness in case of stronger events.

The repeated mild tremors in Amreli and Rajkot districts underline the need for continuous monitoring, even as residents go about their daily lives.
