Amit Shah launches key projects, addresses gathering during Odisha visit

Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on Friday participated in a series of official programmes during his visit to Odisha , attending security events, inaugurating industrial infrastructure and launching projects aimed at strengthening forensic and cooperative institutions .

Shah began his engagements after arriving in Bhubaneswar , proceeding to Mundali in Cuttack district to attend the Raising Day ceremony of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). During the event, he joined senior officials and personnel in marking the force’s anniversary and highlighted its role in protecting critical infrastructure across the country.

From there, the Union minister travelled to Paradip in Jagatsinghpur district , where he inaugurated a sulphuric acid plant at the facility of Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO). The new unit is expected to support fertiliser production by ensuring the availability of sulphuric acid, a key raw material used in manufacturing phosphatic fertilisers .

During the visit, Shah also participated in programmes linked to the cooperative sector , with discussions focusing on dairy development, youth empowerment and farmers’ welfare , aimed at strengthening rural livelihoods.

In another key event, the Home Minister laid the foundation stone for campuses of the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) and the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) in Khurda district . These institutions are expected to enhance forensic education, research and investigative capabilities in the region.

He also virtually inaugurated the NFSU transit campus in Bhubaneswar and opened an exhibition on India’s new criminal laws.

Officials said the visit included the launch and foundation of development projects worth over ₹3,000 crore , highlighting efforts to strengthen infrastructure, cooperative networks and law-enforcement support systems in Odisha.
