Ambulance attacked in Kottayam: Driver assaulted, vehicle vandalized by 3 men

In a shocking incident in Kottayam district, three men allegedly attacked an ambulance driver and vandalized the vehicle while it was transporting a patient to a local private hospital. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident.

According to police reports, the attack occurred around 8:45 p.m. on Tuesday, when an ambulance carrying a patient from Pathanapuram to a nearby hospital was intercepted by three individuals. The assailants claimed that the ambulance had hit their motorcycle, following which they stopped the vehicle and engaged in a heated argument with the driver.

The situation quickly escalated as the men forcibly opened the ambulance door, assaulted the driver, and damaged the vehicle, including breaking its side mirrors. Local residents who witnessed the incident intervened promptly, allowing the ambulance to proceed to the hospital safely.

Police confirmed that the patient being transported was not harmed and is in stable condition. Authorities have identified one of the suspects using the motorcycle’s registration number and mobile tower data, which indicate that he is currently outside Kerala. Efforts are underway to trace and identify the other two individuals involved.
