Amazon to expand investments in Telangana

Amazon Web Services (AWS), one of the world’s leading cloud service providers, is planning to expand its presence in Telangana, with a focus on new data center projects. A senior AWS delegation met Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to discuss ongoing projects, future expansion plans, and investment opportunities in the state.

During the meeting, the officials reviewed the progress of existing data center projects in Telangana and explored plans for further investments. They expressed interest in expanding Amazon’s services in Hyderabad, one of India’s fastest-growing technology hubs.

Full support for investments

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy highlighted the importance of collaboration with global tech companies like Amazon to position Telangana as a world-class digital gateway. He noted that the state’s data center projects not only contribute to economic growth but also create job opportunities, facilitate technology transfer, and strengthen the local innovation ecosystem.

The Chief Minister assured the delegation that the Telangana government would provide full support for investments, including necessary infrastructure, approvals, and land allocation. He also noted that Amazon’s existing data centers have already added significant value to the state’s technology infrastructure.

AWS representatives expressed gratitude for the government’s support and confirmed their commitment to further expanding investments in Telangana in the coming years. The meeting is seen as a step toward a stronger partnership between the state government and Amazon in technology, investment, and infrastructure development.

Heavy investments and long-term plans

The AWS delegation included Kerry Person, Vice President of Global Operations and Data Center Delivery; Vikram Sridharan, Director of Infrastructure Public Policy; Anurag Khilnan, Director of Planning and Delivery; and other senior officials.

Amazon already operates three data centers in Hyderabad, with total investments so far estimated between ₹8,000 and ₹10,000 crore. According to the company’s long-term plan, investments in Telangana could exceed ₹60,000 crore by 2030.
