Amazon strengthens Telangana’s economy
In a significant move to strengthen Telangana’s economic landscape, Amazon India has unveiled three major initiatives aimed at expanding its operations in the state and supporting key communities.
The announcement came after Hon’ble Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, speaking at the Public Affairs Forum of India (PAFI) Annual Conclave today, met with senior corporate leaders, encouraging them to explore new investment opportunities and scale up their operations in Telangana.
During the discussions, the Chief Minister held a key meeting with Mr. Chetan Krishna, Vice President of Public Policy, Amazon India. Telangana is already home to one of Amazon’s largest global operations outside the United States, and the company reaffirmed its commitment to the region through the following initiatives:
• Support for SME exporters: Amazon will help small and medium enterprises (SMEs) from Telangana promote their products globally, boosting exports and expanding their reach.
• Empowering women entrepreneurs: Under its Kalakar program, Amazon will support women entrepreneurs in Telangana, enabling them to showcase and sell their products online, fostering greater economic inclusion.
• Gig worker welfare: In partnership with the Telangana government, Amazon will set up 100 relaxation centres across Hyderabad for gig workers. These centres will offer facilities such as parking, mobile charging points, and air-conditioned rest areas, providing essential support to workers across various platforms.
These initiatives highlight Amazon’s continued investment in Telangana and its commitment to inclusive growth, supporting entrepreneurs, women, and gig workers across the state.
