
Amazon Great Indian Festival 2026 Sees Record Start as Orders More Than Double
Amazon India’s Great Indian Festival 2026 recorded its strongest opening, with products ordered more than doubling year-on-year and visits to its shopping platform crossing 440 million during the sale’s early phase, Amazon said.
More than 72 per cent of visits came from outside India’s top nine metropolitan areas, while first-time shoppers rose nearly 100 per cent. Customers from every Indian pin code placed orders, Amazon said.
Sellers recorded more than twice as many units ordered in the first 24 hours as in the comparable period last year. Sellers generating over Rs 1 crore in sales during that period increased by more than 80 per cent.
Demand was strong across premium electronics and home appliances. Sales of premium Android smartphones rose 70 per cent year-on-year, while MacBook Neo sales reached 65 times their regular-day level. Premium wearables sold at 80 times their usual daily pace. Home entertainment sales were 77 times a regular day’s level, while large appliances recorded 50 times their usual daily sales.
Televisions measuring 55 inches and above accounted for 65 per cent of all TVs sold. Fashion sales reached seven times a regular day’s level, and footwear sales ran at seven pairs per second. Beauty products made up one in every four products purchased during the first 12 hours, while premium skincare and haircare sales reached five times their usual daily rate.
Amazon said Prime offers, instant bank discounts, exchange deals and no-cost equated monthly installments supported purchases. Prime members saved more than twice as much as in the comparable period last year through exclusive offers during the first 12 hours. One in three units purchased received cashback.
More than one in three customers chose equated monthly instalments, while one in four used Amazon Pay to split payments interest-free. Transactions through Amazon Pay Later EMI doubled year-on-year, and its user base grew 80 per cent.
In more than 120 cities served by Amazon Now in India, one in two products was delivered within minutes, the company said.
