Telangana's ambitious Bharat Future City project received its first major investment on Wednesday as Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy laid the foundation stone for Amazon's hyperscale data centre , positioning it as a landmark project in the state's vision to become a global hub for digital infrastructure and advanced technology.

Accompanied by Industries and IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu and senior officials, the Chief Minister said the Amazon facility marks the beginning of a long-term plan to develop Bharat Future City into one of the world's most modern and sustainable urban centres. The project is expected to reinforce Hyderabad's growing reputation as a preferred destination for cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and data centre investments .

Revanth Reddy reiterated Telangana's goal of becoming a $1 trillion economy by 2034 and expanding to a $3 trillion economy by 2047 , while supporting India's broader ambition of achieving a $30 trillion economy by the centenary of Independence. He said the state aims to increase its contribution to the national GDP from 5% to 10% through large-scale investments, industrial growth and employment generation under the "Telangana Rising-2047" vision.

While welcoming Amazon's planned $7 billion investment over the next 14 years, the Chief Minister urged the company to scale up its commitment to ₹1 lakh crore by 2034 . He assured full government support and announced that he would personally review the project's progress through monthly meetings with company representatives.

The Chief Minister also unveiled Telangana's three-zone development strategy for the Hyderabad region. The urban core will focus on cleaner mobility, the Musi River rejuvenation , and improved living standards for nearly 13.4 million residents , including the deployment of 3,000 electric buses and continued zero tax on electric vehicles . The surrounding peri-urban region will be developed into a globally competitive manufacturing hub , while investor-friendly reforms such as the single-window clearance system and sector-specific policies are expected to attract more global investments.

Revanth Reddy concluded by acknowledging the contribution of farmers who provided land for Bharat Future City, assuring them of enhanced compensation and continued government support as Telangana advances its long-term economic and technology-driven growth agenda.
