
AMAs 2026: Queen Latifah Hosts While Taylor Swift and BTS Drive Massive Buzz
The countdown to the 2026 American Music Awards has officially begun, with organizers unveiling a star-studded lineup of hosts, nominees, performers and new award categories ahead of the ceremony scheduled for May 25 in Las Vegas.
The 52nd Annual American Music Awards (AMAs) will be held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena and broadcast live on CBS while also streaming on Paramount+. This year’s edition is already generating significant buzz for its blend of global music stars, expanded genre representation and fan-focused categories.
Veteran entertainer Queen Latifah has been confirmed as the host, marking her return to the AMA stage more than 30 years after previously co-hosting the event in 1995.
Leading the nominations is Taylor Swift with eight nods, including Artist of the Year , Album of the Year and Song of the Year . Close behind are Sabrina Carpenter , Morgan Wallen , Olivia Dean and Sombr , each earning multiple nominations across key categories.
The performance lineup is expected to be one of the ceremony’s biggest highlights. Confirmed acts include Twenty One Pilots , Teddy Swims , Maluma , Karol G and KATSEYE . Reports of BTS returning to an awards-show stage after several years have further heightened anticipation among fans worldwide.
This year also introduces 12 new categories , including Breakout Tour , Best Throwback Song and several genre-specific breakthrough awards, reflecting the growing influence of streaming culture and emerging artists.
Special honors will also be presented during the ceremony, with Billy Idol set to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award , while Karol G will be honored with the International Artist Award of Excellence .
