Amardeep Sharma Wins Banking Excellence Award at London’s House of Lords
Indian banking executive Amardeep Sharma, founder and chairman of Dubai-based Greenback Capital Limited, received the Excellence in Banking & Finance Award at the Indo-European Business Forum (IEBF) Awards 2026, held at London’s House of Lords on October 14.
The award was announced by Baroness Verma and presented alongside Kanishka Narayan MP, Britain’s Minister for Artificial Intelligence, and other parliamentary representatives, according to the event programme.
Sharma began his banking career at ICICI Bank in 2001, working across retail banking, corporate finance and investment banking. His professional assignments took him to India, Oman, Indonesia, Colombia and the United Arab Emirates. He also served as Country Head for Indonesia during his banking career.
He later founded Greenback Capital Limited, which operates from the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) and is regulated by the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA). The firm provides investment advisory, asset management, collective investment fund management and related financial services within its regulatory permissions.
The IEBF award programme cited more than US$6 billion in combined assets under management and advisory associated with the firm. The figure was reported by the organisers and was not independently verified in the material provided.
The awards ceremony brought together British parliamentarians, policymakers, diplomats, investors and business leaders to discuss commercial partnerships and economic engagement between India, the United Kingdom and Europe.
The event was held amid developments in India–UK economic relations, including the implementation of the countries’ Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA). The agreement is intended to reduce trade barriers and improve market access for businesses in both countries.
The forum also featured discussions on technology, investment and bilateral cooperation. Indian singer Kanika Kapoor received the India–UK Cultural Ambassador Award, while other awards recognised individuals and organisations in business, renewable energy, healthcare and community service.
The Indo-European Business Forum, founded by Vijay Goel, organises meetings involving business and political representatives to promote investment and commercial links between India, the UK and Europe.
Sharma’s recognition marks a new international accolade in a career spanning India’s banking sector and financial services in global markets.
