
Amaravati Quantum Valley Poised to Lead Next-Gen Technologies: CM
Amaravati, the capital of Andhra Pradesh , witnessed a landmark moment on Saturday as the State government unveiled its ambitious vision to transform the city into a global hub for advanced technology. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu laid the foundation stone for the Amaravati Quantum Valley at Uddandarayanipalem , marking a decisive step toward world-class quantum research and innovation.
The event was attended by Union Minister of State for Science and Technology Jitendra Singh as the chief guest. On the occasion, the State government signed key memoranda of understanding with leading institutions to promote innovation in the quantum sector.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister described the project as a “game changer” for the country’s technological future. Drawing parallels with the success of Hitec City , he said the Quantum Valley would emerge as an international centre designed to meet national requirements over the next four decades. Emphasising the role of youth in shaping history, he urged students to move forward at “quantum speed” and announced that the State aims to produce 2.5 lakh quantum professionals by 2030.
First quantum computer by year-end
Reiterating the State’s leadership in adopting emerging technologies, Mr. Naidu revealed plans to make the first quantum computer operational in Amaravati by the end of this year. He said discussions were underway with global firms such as IBM , TCS and L&T , and announced that two additional quantum centres would be launched by April 14 . He also appealed to the Centre to roll out the National Quantum Mission from the State.
₹6,000 crore boost to India’s quantum future
Speaking at the event, Jitendra Singh hailed the foundation stone as a defining moment in the country’s quantum journey. He said the Union government has earmarked ₹6,000 crore for the mission, which is expected to bring transformative changes in healthcare, communications and allied sectors. The Quantum Valley, he added, would serve as a platform for multidisciplinary research, including quantum medicine and quantum biology, with full support from the Centre.
Union Minister Pemmasani Chandrasekhar, State Ministers Nara Lokesh, P. Narayana and Kandula Durgesh, along with industry leaders and academicians, were present.
