Amaravati Quantum Valley: AP Eyes Top-5 Global Quantum Hub by 2030

Andhra Pradesh has unveiled an ambitious plan to transform its capital region into a global hub for quantum computing , with Amaravati at the centre of the initiative. The state is targeting a place among the world’s top five quantum hubs by 2030 as part of its push toward advanced technology-led growth.

The roadmap was finalised at a high-level roundtable meeting chaired by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu at the Secretariat. The meeting focused on fast-tracking infrastructure and policy support required to build a robust quantum ecosystem.

At the heart of the plan is the proposed Amaravati Quantum Valley, which will drive development in quantum hardware , components, algorithms, and related technologies. Officials informed that a temporary Quantum Computing Mission office is already operational at Medha Towers, located in the core administrative zone near the Secretariat in Velagapudi.

To strengthen domestic capabilities, the government will roll out the “Made in Amaravati” initiative, aimed at promoting local manufacturing of quantum computing equipment. Global firms specialising in cryogenics, photonics, and power electronics are expected to be invited, while startups and research-driven bio-foundries will be supported to boost innovation and advanced design.

The Chief Minister подчеркed that Andhra Pradesh is the first state in India to introduce a dedicated quantum computing policy, positioning itself at the forefront of the emerging technology landscape. The initiative, he said, is expected to accelerate economic growth and generate thousands of high-skilled jobs.

The meeting saw participation from key national and international stakeholders, including IBM, C-DAC, C-DOT, DRDO, and BARC. The state plans to collaborate with these institutions to build a strong quantum hardware ecosystem.
