The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) has approved a series of major projects aimed at accelerating the transformation of Amaravati into a modern, sustainable and economically vibrant capital city.

At its 61st Authority meeting , chaired by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu , APCRDA cleared all 18 agenda items covering infrastructure, urban planning, tourism, housing, public services and economic development. The meeting was attended by Municipal Administration Minister P. Narayana and senior officials.

A key decision was the approval of ₹547.07 crore for infrastructure development around the Andhra Pradesh High Court precincts, aimed at improving civic amenities and supporting the capital's institutional growth.

To boost tourism, the authority approved a Giant Observation Wheel under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. The project is expected to emerge as a major recreational and tourism landmark in the capital region.

The Chief Minister also directed officials to prepare a comprehensive Urban Mobility Plan to address future transportation needs and improve connectivity across Amaravati. In another significant initiative, APCRDA decided to prepare a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the proposed Amaravati Economic Region , which is expected to link nine districts from Eluru to Prakasam and drive employment, industrial activity and regional economic growth.

The authority approved expansion of the city gas distribution network through PPP or joint-venture models and cleared the establishment of a Building Tribunal and Mediation Centre for faster resolution of land and construction-related disputes.

APCRDA will also establish its own Fire Wing , with powers to issue Fire Safety No-Objection Certificates (NOCs) within the capital region.

In a relief measure for land pooling farmers, registration fee exemptions were approved for 495 farmers affected by changes in allotment codes. The authority also permitted ATMs and kiosks in designated setback areas and approved land allotments under a Negotiable Settlement Policy for beneficiaries holding non-viable plots.

The meeting further approved housing projects for low- and middle-income groups in line with World Bank and Asian Development Bank guidelines. As part of Amaravati's vision as a Blue-Green City , APCRDA decided to invite fresh tenders for a modern Central Cooling System to serve government and private buildings.

The Chief Minister also emphasised the development of integrated townships, hotels and convention centres, while directing officials to establish accommodation facilities for attendants accompanying patients at major hospitals, reinforcing the government's focus on inclusive and people-centric urban development.
