
Amaravati Fire Mystery: CM Calls for Thorough Investigation
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has ordered a detailed investigation into the recent spate of fire accidents in Amaravati , directing officials to examine whether the incidents are accidental or linked to a possible conspiracy .
Chairing a review at the Secretariat, the CM assessed a recent fire at a construction site in Rayapudi, where pipes belonging to a contracting firm were destroyed. The blaze broke out late at night near the residences of senior officials and was brought under control by fire personnel with police assistance.
He also took note of a similar earlier incident near Velagapudi, where HDPE pipes worth several crores were gutted. With multiple such cases emerging within a short span, the CM stressed the need for a thorough and time-bound probe .
Senior police and intelligence officials briefed him on the incidents. The Chief Minister sought details on response time, causes behind the rapid spread of flames, and directed that forensic evidence be used to establish the exact reasons.
Security Tightened in Capital Region
Highlighting the large volume of high-value materials stored at construction sites, the CM warned that such incidents could disrupt ongoing development works. He ordered stricter security measures , including increased police patrolling, mandatory CCTV surveillance, deployment of private security personnel, and drone monitoring of sensitive areas.
He also instructed officials to closely track suspicious movements and take firm action if any deliberate attempt to create unrest is identified.
Focus on Transparency and Prevention
Amid growing public concern, the CM emphasized the need for a transparent investigation to rule out doubts. He directed authorities to uncover the truth and ensure accountability if foul play is detected.
Officials were also asked to implement preventive measures to avoid recurrence, as Amaravati continues to witness rapid infrastructure development.
