Amaravati done by 2028, Polavaram by 2027

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has announced that all development works in Amaravati, including infrastructure projects worth ₹50,000 crore, will be completed by 2028. He also expressed confidence that the Polavaram Project will be finished by December 2027.

Speaking at a media conclave held in Mangalagiri, Naidu addressed farmers who contributed land for Amaravati’s development, assuring them that their contributions will not suffer loss. He projected that Amaravati will emerge as an international city, equipped with facilities for higher education institutions, global companies, and ancillary industries like quantum computing.

Naidu defended the administration’s plan to acquire additional land for the expansion of Amaravati, asserting that without sufficient land, the capital will remain a small municipality. He compared Amaravati’s potential trajectory with Hyderabad’s HITEC City, where land value surged from ₹1 lakh per acre to ₹100 crore per acre following development.

On the Polavaram project, Naidu reaffirmed the state government’s goal for its completion by 2027. He emphasized that the Polavaram-Banakacharla link canal will help utilize surplus water from the Godavari River, reducing wastage and benefiting farmers. He noted progress in other irrigation works, including the Handri-Neeva project, and claimed that districts like Anantapur are witnessing improved Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) growth compared to certain Godavari districts, driven by horticulture.

The Chief Minister highlighted the state-level development plan Swarnandhra Vision 2047, aimed at propelling Andhra Pradesh’s long-term socioeconomic growth. He set targets for per capita income at ₹5,42,985 by 2028-29 and ₹10,55,000 by 2029-34.

Naidu also addressed concerns regarding medical colleges, stating there is no plan to hand them over to private entities. Instead, any expansion or improvement will be pursued through public-private partnership (PPP) models to enhance healthcare delivery.

In conclusion, Naidu reiterated that under the current administration, Amaravati would be completed by 2028 and Polavaram by 2027. Once these goals are met, he expressed belief that the private sector will amplify growth, especially in education and high-tech industries, making Amaravati a hub of international standards.
