Amaravati Development Gets Deadline Push with 95 Projects Under Review

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has directed officials and construction agencies to significantly accelerate the execution of Amaravati's capital city projects, stressing that every work package must be completed within the stipulated timeline while maintaining the highest standards of quality, efficiency, and accountability.

Chairing a high-level review meeting with senior officials and representatives of construction companies at the Secretariat, the Chief Minister said the pace of work had improved in recent months but needed to increase further to achieve the government's ambitious targets. He described the rebuilding of Amaravati as one of the state's most prestigious infrastructure missions, urging contractors to seize the opportunity and deliver projects without delay.

Reviewing the progress of 95 ongoing projects with a combined estimated investment of ₹50,999 crore, Naidu instructed contractors and officials to maintain a minimum monthly physical progress of 7.92% to ensure timely completion. He assured construction agencies that the government would ensure adequate financial support for all approved works, but made it clear that delays in execution would not be tolerated.

The Chief Minister also directed all departments to work in close coordination to resolve bottlenecks involving land acquisition, statutory approvals, funding, utility shifting, and design clearances, enabling uninterrupted progress across project sites. He said administrative hurdles should not become obstacles to the capital city's development.

Emphasising a broader urban planning approach, Naidu said Amaravati should not be viewed merely as a cluster of 29 villages, but as part of an integrated metropolitan region encompassing Vijayawada, Guntur, and Amaravati. He instructed officials to align infrastructure planning, road connectivity, and civic amenities with this larger regional vision to support future population growth and economic activity.

Calling for sustainable development alongside rapid construction, the Chief Minister directed officials to substantially expand the green cover across the capital region through large-scale landscaping and plantation drives. He reiterated that Amaravati is being developed as a modern, world-class greenfield capital, with infrastructure designed to support long-term administrative, commercial, and residential growth.
