Alpha: Alia Bhatt And Sharvari’s Spy Thriller Reportedly Sets August 28 Netflix Premiere

Alia Bhatt and Sharvari’s Alpha is reportedly heading to Netflix on August 28, 2026, giving the YRF Spy Universe action thriller a chance to reach a wider audience after an underwhelming theatrical run.

Directed by Shiv Rawail, Alpha is the first female-led film in the YRF Spy Universe, with Alia Bhatt and Sharvari playing trained intelligence operatives. The film was released in theatres on July 3 and opened amid considerable expectations, but its box office performance fell short of the franchise’s usual standards.

The film reportedly earned around ₹58 crore net in India and close to ₹100 crore worldwide during its theatrical run. While the opening was respectable, its collections weakened considerably after the first weekend, making it one of the more disappointing performers associated with the ambitious spy franchise.

According to the latest reports, Alpha will stream on Netflix from August 28 in Hindi. However, the exact date has not yet been prominently confirmed through an official Netflix or Yash Raj Films announcement, so the reported premiere date should be treated as subject to confirmation.

The OTT release could give the film a second opportunity, particularly among viewers who skipped its theatrical run. Alpha is the seventh instalment in YRF's Spy Universe, following films including Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, War, Pathaan, Tiger 3 and War 2. YRF has positioned the franchise as an interconnected spy action universe featuring some of Hindi cinema's biggest stars.
