The stage is set for a politically charged all-party meeting on Sunday ahead of the Monsoon Session of Parliament , with the forcible removal of activist Sonam Wangchuk from Delhi's Jantar Mantar expected to emerge as the biggest flashpoint between the government and the Opposition.

The customary meeting, attended by floor leaders of major political parties, is aimed at building consensus before Parliament convenes. However, the controversy surrounding Wangchuk's removal from the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) protest site is likely to dominate discussions, with several Opposition parties expected to raise questions over the police action and the government's handling of the issue.

Another politically sensitive matter expected to figure prominently is the alleged embezzlement of donations meant for the Ram temple in Ayodhya . The Samajwadi Party has already announced that it will press the issue inside Parliament, signalling a stormy session ahead.

Alongside the political confrontations, the government is also expected to outline its legislative agenda for the session. It has proposed the introduction of five new Bills , including amendments related to the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act , Registration of Births and Deaths , Income Tax , Supreme Court judge strength , and the MSME Development Act .

Among the proposed legislations, the amendment to the Supreme Court (Number of Judges) Act seeks to increase the sanctioned strength of judges from 34 to 38 , including the Chief Justice of India, while the MSME amendment aims to further strengthen the country's small business ecosystem.

The government is also expected to push for the passage of the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026 , which remained pending in the previous session. Meanwhile, the Viksit Bharat Shiksha Adhisthan Bill, 2025 , aimed at restructuring higher education regulation, continues to await parliamentary scrutiny.

Notably, the proposed 130th Constitutional Amendment Bill , relating to the suspension of jailed public officials, has not been included in the legislative agenda for the upcoming session.

With contentious political issues colliding with an ambitious legislative programme, Sunday's all-party meeting is expected to set the tone for what could be one of the most heated Monsoon Sessions in recent years.
